'Govt committing crimes against humanity'

The government is committing crimes against humanity with killings, abductions and repressions throughout the country, BNP's spokesperson Mirza Fakhrul has claimed.

“The killings, abductions and repressions will not stop unless they are ousted from power,” the party's acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said on Monday.

Jurgensen quits the Bangladesh job Bangladesh national Cricket team's head coach Shane Jurgensen has decided to quit the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) job following the ODI series against India in June.

A BCB official requesting anonymity confirmed to the Dhaka Tribune that Shane has informed the board of his resignation in written form on Monday.

A court in Egypt has sentenced 683 people to death in a mass trial, reports BBC.

The defendants faced charges over an attack on a police station in Minya in 2013 in which a policeman was killed.

Sylhet city out of power for 17-hr

The Sylhet city corporation is out of power for about 17 hours as the regular power supply to the city corporation area has been collapsed after the attack of the torrential storm at 12:45am on Sunday.

Locals said the electricity supply was shut down in the city at 1am as the torrential storm hit the supply chain and the power distribution collapsed around 12:45am on Sunday.
