School boy escapes from kidnappers

Police have arrested a kidnapper after getting information from a school student, who managed to escape the clutches of the abductors two days into his kidnap in Baraigram upazila in Natore.

The arrestee, Jony, son of Ruhul Amin, of Kalikapur village of the upazila, has reportedly abducted the class seven student Saimun Islam Shuvo on Wednesday.

Banpara police camp In-Charge Krishna Mohon said: “Jony and his associates called Shuvo outside on Wednesday afternoon. Later, they took him to an abandoned room in the area and tied up his hands.

Shuvo managed to loose the tie and ran away through the window of the room on Friday afternoon when Jony went out of the room,” he added.

Later, Shuvo took shelter at a nearby house and called police.

A team of Banpara police went to the spot and rescued the boy and held Jony as per the information provided by Shuvo, said police.

Krishna Mohon said: “Jony has admitted that they kidnapped Shuvo to collect Tk40,000 from his parents as ransom.”
