Only China Major Bridge Engineering Company Ltd has responded the tender to get the work order for building the main structure of the Padma bridge.
Communications Minister Obaidul Quader made the disclosure on Thursday noon.
Two of the three pre-qualified firms, Samsung C&T Corporation and Vinci-HCC didn't respond to the tender as the government didn't extended the time according to their request to extend the time of submission.
The government floated international tenders for construction of the main infrastructure of the bridge on Jun 30, 2013.
Initially, the deadline for submission of tender for Padma bridge construction was September 9.
Later the timeline was extended twice, first time until October 27 last year, then March 24 this year.
