'No water no relations'

Bangladesh-India relations will depend on proper sharing of water from Teesta River, BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan has said.

The BNP leader has made the statement while addressing the concluding rally at Dalia point near Teesta barrage in Nilphamari.The BNP ended its two-day long-march towards Teesta in Lalmonirhat through holding the rally.

Nazrul said: “If water remains in Teesta, our relations with India will be good but if there is no water in Teesta, there is no scope to keep good relations with India.”

In the same progamme, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called upon people to be united to save the country from environmental and economic disasters.

“The big countries are grasping the lands of small countries,” Fakhrul alleged.

Under the circumstances, he urged the people to be united in this regard.

He alleged that the government had become failure to place its demand to India about getting water of Teesta River.

Earlier, the party started its long-march from the Airport  intersection in Dhaka on April 22.
