The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has sent a letter to the Election Commission (EC) seeking the affidavit copy of former secretary general of Jatiya Party –Ershad, Ruhul Amin Hawlader, to investigate his wealth statement.
The commission on Monday received the letter signed by the assistant director of the ACC Hamidul Hasan.
The letter sought a copy of the affidavit of Hawlader, which was submitted to the returning officer in the ninth and 10th parliamentary polls, a senior assistant secretary of the EC told the Dhaka Tribune.
The ACC has already started investigating allegations of illegal wealth amassed by Hawlader.
On April 10, the Jatiya Party appointed Ziauddin Bablu as its new secretary general.
The EC official also said the ACC sought the certified copies of Hawlader’s affidavit by April 22.
The commission will send the affidavit copies to the ACC after collecting the certified copy from the returning officer.
Hawlader contested from Patuakhali-1 constituency in the 10th and Barisal-6 in the ninth parliamentary polls
