Mother to be hanged for killing son

A Bagerhat court on Monday sentenced a mother and two others to death for killing her son.

The convicts are Latifa Begum, Monir Mollah and Nazma Begum, Monir Mollah’s sister, all from Nagarkandi village, Mollahat upazila.

PM orders for creating new posts

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked the authorities concerned for creating new posts and filling up the vacancies fast in the civil bureaucracy.

The premier made the direction in the regular cabinet meeting held at the secretariat on Monday.

Nasim: Doctors' posting within 3 days

Doctors, who have been serving at government hospitals in the capital as supplementary, will be posted to goverment health facilities across the country within three days.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has pressed a charge sheet against Hefazat-e-Islam Nayeb-e-Ameer Mufti Izharul Islam Chowdhury in a case filed for not submitting his wealth statement.

Investigation Officer, also ACC Deputy Director H M Akhteruzzaman filed the charge sheet with Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Court in the morning.

ETV director sues Mitford doctors

Ekushey Television (ETV) Director Md Zahidul Islam has sued Sir Salimullah Medical College director and four others over assault on journalists.

Taking the complaint into cognisance, a Dhaka court directed the Detective Branch (DB) of Police to investigate the assault on journalists by the doctors of Sir Salimullah Medical College.

4 JMB militants on fresh remand

A Mymensingh court has placed four members of Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) on a 10-day remand in a case filed in connection with snatching convicted JMB militants and killing a police member.

The militants are Al Amin, 26, Syed Ziaul Islam, 24, Md Ajmeer, 32, and Golam Sarwar Rahat, 27.

Strike at Ziaur Rahman medical college off

Students at Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College in Bogra have withdrawn their strike.

The announcement came after a meeting with the principal of the college on Monday morning.
