The sizzling summer heat that has been prevailing through the country will continue until next month, what officials concerned say.
The heat will not subside until rainfall, what is unlikely anytime soon, Bangladesh Meteorological Department told the Dhaka Tribune on Monday.
“The temperature across the country has been upto seven degrees more than usual through last week,” a met official said seeking anonymity.
“March, April and May constitute the summer season,” he said. “April is considered the hottest month of the year.”
“The heat will not subside without rainfall which is unlikely anytime soon. The heat will continue in the month of May,” he added.
On Sunday, the highest temperature was recorded in Rangamati at 40.6 degrees Celsius. Dhaka on the other hand registered at 38.5 degrees.
