State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has narrowly escaped a blaze that was triggered while demolishing illegal drugs in the district on Sunday afternoon.
At least 11 Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel have received burn injuries during the incident.
The injured are Nayek Abdul Halim, Zahid, Alim, Habib, Faizul, Biplob, Belayet, Ashraful Islam, Adnan, Anisur Rahaman and Milon.
BGB 17 commander Lieutenant Colonel Khandakar Saiful Alam said: “A blaze erupted while BGB personnel started to demolish illegal drugs with Junior Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal in presence, leaving 11 BGB men injured.”
Later, the injured were rushed to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital.
