The students of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (SZRMCH) have gone on an indefinite strike since Saturday morning to press home their seven-point demand.
The medical students announced the strike programme following a robbery-incident at female hostel.
Boycotting classes and exams, the students formed a human chain and blocked Dhaka-Dinajpur highway for one hour demanding ensuring security in both campus and hostel premises on Saturday.
Principal Professor Dr Md Ahsan Habib said: “Additional police have been deployed in the campus premises as per the students' demand. Authorities have also tighten internal security inside the campus .”
“A six-member probe committee has been formed to investigate the incident and we filed a case in this connection,” he added.
Bogra Police Media Wing Chief Gaziur Rahman said police has already started the investigation over the robbery incident.
A robbery-incident has taken place at the female hostel of the medical college early Friday.
