Police have arrested two people along with 53,100 fake national identity cards from Dholaipar area under Kadamtali in the capital on Friday night.
The arrestees are Aminul Islam, alias Mamun and Toufiq Imam.
Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner at Media Centre of DMP, said: “Acting on a tip-off, police raided the area and held the men along with 53,100 fake national ID cards.”
The syndicate had been supplying the fake national ID cards to different shops that sell mobile phone SIMs,” he added.
He further said: “The shop owners use those fake ID cards as document while buying new SIM cards.”
