The High Court has granted bail to Sohel Rana in a case filed under the Building Construction Act and Building Code in connection with the Rana Plaza collapse.
He is now behind bars as he was denied bail in another case on charges of causing deaths in Rana Plaza collapse due to negligence.
The court said they would not hear another bail petition submitted by the defence and suggested that if the defence moved it again after the vacation, a regular bench could hear it.
The bench of Justice Md Rezaul Hasan and Justice Khurshid Alam Sarkar passed the order on Sunday afternoon.
Deputy Attorney General Md Selim told the Dhaka Tribune that the court granted six months bail to Rana in the case filed for violating the Building Construction Code.
The nine-storey Rana Plaza collapsed on April 24 last year, claiming at least 1,135 lives and injuring nearly 2,500 people, most of them garment factory workers.
On charge of violating the Building Construction Code, Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha on the day filed a case against the building owner Sohel Rana with Savar police station.
The Savar police also filed another case on the following day against six people on charges of causing deaths due to negligence.
