Govt smells BNP-Jamaat in ‘al-Qaeda audio’

Update : 29 Jul 2017, 03:46 PM
Authenticity of the “al-Qaeda audio clip” will prove that the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami have ties with international militant organisations, a junior minister has said. “We have said before, during the elections, that the BNP-Jamaat alliance is tied with international militant organisations,” junior Foreign Minister Shahriar Alam said. “But, many had said it was ploy to defame them politically,” he told the media on Sunday at his office. “Though there are doubts on the audio (al-Quaeda message), but if it is authentic, it will reinforce that our claims have been proven true,” he said. “Bangladesh will not tolerate any threats and has the capability for resistance,” he said. State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan said the government was probing the origin of the message and asserted it was not a threat to the country. “The al-Qaeda is provoked into action from the locality of wherever they attack but our people are with us, they do not want this kind of militancy,” he said. Bangladesh has the capability to handle such a threat, the junior home minister added. In an undated audio message published by Jihadology.net the al-Qaeda said to have called Bangladeshi Muslims to join “jihad” against anti-Islam forces.
