Bangladesh stressed the need to build stronger commercial relations between with the Kyrgyz Republic through bilateral trade.
Bangladesh Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic Mosud Mannan conveyed this to Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev after presenting credentials to the Presidential Palace of the Central Asian country Wednesday night, according to a press release.
The two countries can potentially capitalize on trade in cotton, ready-made garments, pharmaceuticals, agricultural products, exchange of medical students and tourism, the ambassador said.
Mannan also emphasized the need to sign agreements between the two countries on matters pertaining to education, agriculture, commerce and culture. Furthermore, treaties to avoid double-taxation, the facilitation of joint ventures (especially in the agricultural sector), the formation of a joint economic commission, and the exchange of Parliamentary delegations and members of Kyrgyz Chambers of Commerce need to be established.
President Atambayev assured the ambassador of all cooperation to build relations with Bangladesh, diplomatic sources said.
With residence in Tashkent, Ambassador Mannan also touched upon these points in his meetings with the deputy minister of foreign affairs, minister of health, state secretary for agriculture, minister of economy, deputy minister of tourism and culture, head of the foreign relations committee of the Kyrgyz parliament, vice chairman of the Kyrgyz chamber of commerce and head of a leading Kyrgyz think-tank.
He re-iterated the same in his statements to the Kyrgyz press.
