Two BNP supporters died during clashes in police when opposition supporters attacked a polling station in Thakurgaon Sadar on Sunday during polls.
Several others, including policemen, were injured in the incident took place during a nationwide anti-polls hartal of the BNP-led 18-party alliance.
About a hundred opposition supporters attacked Basudevpur Government Primary School polling centre in Sadar area around 11:30am, police said.
“They assaulted policemen. The law enforcers were compelled to open fire,” Thakurgaon Sadar police Officer-in-Charge Abdul Mannan told the Dhaka Tribune.
The two dead were BNP supporters Harun, 20, and Joynal, 21, both from Sadar upazila, the official said.
