'No blockade' until Dec 29

Update : 24 Dec 2013, 01:49 PM

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia did not point to any agitation programmes until December 29, the date when the opposition will host a “march for democracy.”

No directives toward any opposition programme until December 29 were provided from Khaleda Zia's address to the nation on Tuesday evening.

The presser was held after the fifth spell of blockade of the BNP-led 18-party ended. No announcement of an extension or renewed agitation programme was made.

Therefore, it led to speculations that the main opposition BNP will refrain from further agitation until the Dhaka march programme with national flag.

Khaleda Zia called to the nation to gather near BNP Nayapaltan headquarters with national flag on December 29 to “march for democracy.”

The move is qualitatively different from the recent spell of agitation, like hartals or blockade programmes.

However, it is believed that an apparent stop to the spell of continuous agitation programmes will bring a sigh of relief among citizens.
