A total of 402 teachers from Rajshahi University on Wednesday issued a joint statement condemning the ongoing subversive activities conducted by 18-party alliance members across the country during the blockade.
In the written statement, the progressive alliance-backed teachers, protested the killing of common civilians by setting vehicles on fire.
The teachers said activists of the BNP-led 18-party alliance have been committing crimes against humanity, just as they did during the 1971 liberation war in the name of anti-government movements.
They also urged the government to take stern action against the “culprits” who were killing innocent people.
The teachers also urged the opposition alliance to come to consensus in order to resolve the ongoing political crisis in the county through a fruitful dialogue.
Among others, Prof Ananda Kumar Saha, Prof M Entajul Haque, Prof M Jalal Uddin, Prof Syed Shamsuddin Ahmed, Prof AKM Abdul Mazid, Prof Nazrul Islam, Prof Elias Hossain, Prof Sadekul Arefin Matin, Prof Mushfik Ahmed, Prof Shafikunnabi Samadi, Prof Golam Sabbir Sattar and Prof Abul Kashem signed the statement.
