Two nominated for “Begum Rokeya medal’ for 2013

Jharnadhara Chowdhury and Professor Hamida Banu have been nominated for the “Begum Rokeya medal’ for 2013. The ministry of women and children affairs has finalised the proposal after a meeting of the ‘national award committee of cabinet’. 

They are awarding them for their outstanding contribution to the spreading of female education, ensuring of human rights and immense work for the socio economic development of rural people. The meeting was held on 6th November.

Jharnadhara Chowdhury was born on 15th October of 1938 at lakshmipur district. She has been devoting her life since her childhood for humanity by the inspiration of Mahatma Gandhi’s non-violent creed. She is the chairperson of Gandhi memorial high school. She has already achieved the ‘padmasri’ award.

Professor Hamida Banu was born on 23rd January of 1940 at chandpur district. She had been working as professor of physics department at Chittagong University. She has successfully worked at many important positions including Bangladesh government employment commission. She has written many essays and research paper.

The award will be presented to them at Osmani auditorium on 9th December.
