Processions, vandalism in Rajshahi

BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami brought out separate processions in Rajshahi city on Monday morning during the second day of the opposition's 60-hour nationwide shutdown.

Shutdown supporters vandalized at least one vehicle and set fire on roads in the morning.

Dhaka Tribune Rajshahi correspondent reported of the latest updates around 9am.

City BNP brought out a procession led by its President Mizanur Rahman Minu near Kadirganj area around 6:30am.

District BNP brought out another procession from Rajshahi College around 7am before police intervened and dispelled them.

Islami Chhatra Shibir, the youth affiliate of Jamaat, brought out a procession from Talaimari area around 7am. But, police broke the procession.

Local unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, the student affiliate of BNP, brought out a procession in Rajarhata area around 7:30am before police chased them away.

Picketers vandalized an auto-rickshaw in Kadirganj area around 7am. Police rushed to the spot and dispelled them with rubber bullets.

Local Chhatra Dal set fire to a road near Malopara women's college around 8:40am.

Law enforcers were deployed through all key points in the city since morning and frequent patrols were observed.

A large deployment of police and Rapid Action Battalion, Rab, was seen in Zero Point area of the city.
