Local administration imposed section 144 in district’s municipality area on Thursday after Awami League and BNP had announced to hold separate rallies at the venues at the same time.
To ward off any untoward incident in the area, the authority clamped the ban on gathering in the entire municipality area from 6pm on Thursday, which will continue until 6am on Saturday, said Arifur Rahman, NDC Bogra.
Our Correspondent said both the Ruling and opposition party men announced to hold a rally at Altafunnesa play ground at about 3pm on Friday.
The 72-hour ban on gathering was imposed to avert any untoward situation in the area, he added.
Meanwhile, three platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh have been deployed in the district. Bogra ASP Gaziur Rahman confirmed the matter.
While talking to the Dhaka Tribune Awami League district unit Secretary Mojibur Rahman said: " We will not violate any order issued by the administration. But, we wish to hold the rally in front of our party office, if the authority allows."
However, BNP district unit Organizing Secretary Shah-e-Alom said: " We will hold our rally in the scheduled time despite of the ban."
