Monirul Islam told the Dhaka Tribune, “One of the bodies bear strong resemblance with the photos Tamim Chowdhury that had been released.”
A join team of the Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and the local police set off the operation at a three-storey building at 9:36am which continued till 10:35am, said Narayanganj Additional SP Faruque Hossain.
He said the building had been cordoned off early Saturday morning.
According to statements of counter terrorism unit members, the two other men killed during Operation Hit Strong 27 were acting as body guards of Tamim Chowdhury.
They suspect that the 35-year old militant might have been someone influential in the militant hierarchy.
After a meeting with the landlord of the building, the law enforcers locked doors of the militant den from outside. When asked to surrender, the militants retaliated from inside, which led to an exchange of heavy gunfire.
