Update : 06 Oct 2013, 06:51 PM

A two-day fair has been organised in the capital to display the products of the country’s young entrepreneurs.

President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) Md Sabur Khan formally inaugurated the fair at the Women Voluntary Association auditorium at Dhanmondi on Sunday. The event holds the slogan “We will not look for jobs but give jobs.”

A number of innovative young entrepreneurs from the sectors including IT, handicrafts, publishing, software, renewable energy, readymade garment, jewellery and herbal products are participating in the event.

Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN) in association with Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) jointly organised the event styled as “Uddyokta Haat.”

While speaking at the inauguration, Md Sabur Khan urged the young entrepreneurs to come up with visions and keep their mindset strong.

He said an entrepreneur has the power to generate employments for the people and contribute to the country’s economy.

General secretary of BdOSN Munir Hasan, senior vice president of BASIS Syed Almas Kabir, managing director of Datasoft Ltd Mahboob Zaman and managing director of BD.Venture Ltd Shakhwat Hossain were also present at the function.

DCCI has recently taken an initiative to create 2,000 young entrepreneurs this year. The interested young people have been asked to participate in the initiative with innovative business ideas.

The ideas can be submitted to DCCI at the site: business.org.bd.

The DCCI in cooperation with Bangladesh Bank will support the 2,000 entrepreneurs in funding and capacity building efforts.

“We have a strong base of young population. If we can make them entrepreneurs, the country’s economic outlook will change,” said DCCI president.
