The personal secretary to the state minister of health has reportedly been made an invigilator at Barisal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College (SBMC) – where his daughter will on Friday sit the admission test.
SBMC Principal Dr Shahidul Alam has acknowledged the fact.
According to a letter sent to the SBMC and the Barisal district civil surgeon office, four invigilators have been assigned to the medical intake test. These include Tofazzal Hossain, PS of Captain (rtd) Mojibor Rahman Fakir, the state minister for health.
In the letter - which was signed by Rezaul Islam, Senior Assistant Secretary at Ministry of Public Administration (MOPA) - the principal and district civil surgeon were asked to extend necessary support and cooperation to the invigilator team, including the PS of the state minister. Dr ATM Mizanur Rahman, Barisal district civil surgeon, confirmed that they had received the letter from the health ministry.
Dr Shahidul Alam said out of 2,252 candidates for the SBMC admission test, 1,200 would sit at the SBMC centre and the remainder at Barisal Model School and College centre. They will compete for just 250 seats in the 45th batch for 2013-14 academic session.
“If any of the invigilators were found to have relatives among the examinees then he would be requested to refrain from duty at that particular centre,” said the principal.
Usually the medical intake examination is conducted by the SBMC and civil surgeon office. The test is scheduled for 10am to 11am on Friday.
