Update : 04 Aug 2013, 05:17 AM

Bangladesh's private airline United Airways (BD) Ltd is going to launch flights from Dhaka to Singapore, Doha and Karachi next month.

The airline – the first-ever public limited aviation company in Bangladesh – is currently operating international flights from Dhaka to Jeddah, Dubai, Muscat, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Kathmandu and Kolkata. It is also operating flights from Chittagong to Muscat and Kolkata, reports UNB.

"We have already obtained permission from Singapore and Qatar civil aviation authorities for flight operations. We are introducing our new destinations from September this year," said Captain Tasbirul Ahmed Choudhury, chairman and managing director of United Airways.

Operating since July 10, 2007, the airline is now flying to all major domestic sectors from Dhaka. It will also launch flights on the Dhaka-Yangon route by the end of this year.

United Airways has a total of nine aircraft in its inventory, including one DASH 8-100, two ATR-72, four MD-83 and two Airbus-310. One MD-83, ATR-72 and two Jetstream are expected to be included in the fleet very soon.

"We will fly to other Gulf destinations including Riyadh, Dammam, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah also. Gulf is the most important market for Bangladeshi airlines. One in two people flying abroad go to the six Gulf countries, as more than 60% of the country's over 7 million migrant workers are currently employed there," said Captain Tasbir.
