The government has made a two-year strategic plan and a 10-year commercial plan aimed at rendering Biman Bangladesh Airlines profitable, reports BSS.
The plans will help bring dynamism in the national flag carrier by replacing old aircraft with new ones, expanding Biman's fleet, developing flight schedules and reducing excessive expenditure.
These observations came at the 42nd Parliamentary Standing Committee meeting on Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
The meeting discussed the steps taken to turn the national flag carrier into a time-befitting organisation.
The meeting touched upon different issues, especially regarding the standard of passenger services, beautification of the airport, and security management.
The Jatiya Sangsad body stated that the newly appointed Biman Chief Executive Officer Kevin John Steele has been entrusted with the responsibility of implementing the plans.
Committee Chairman Engineer Mosharraf Hossain presided over the meeting. Committee members Lieutenant Colonel (retired) Faruk Khan, Moin Uddin Khan Badol, Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury and Shefali Momtaj also attended the meeting.
