Rolling Stones recreates Hyde Park concert for BST gig

Update : 05 Jul 2013, 01:28 PM

The Rolling Stones are hoping to recapture their first ever performance at Hyde Park in 1969 by importing a mini forest for their set at next weekend’s British Summer Time concert.

Fresh from their epic Glastonbury set, Mick Jagger, Ronnie Wood, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts, will be headlining the stage on July 13th marking the second weekend of the concert series which will also see the likes of Jennifer Lopez, JLS and Lionel Richie perform.

However, The Stones are pulling out all the stops to make sure their set is one to remember and have reportedly requested that huge oak trees are planted around the stage along with bushes surrounding their technical equipment.

Apparently, the oaks will stand more than 70ft high while 10,000 branches have been used for the stage decoration.

When Mick and the band looked out from the stage back in the Sixties all they could see was a sea of people and a load of trees, but many of those have been cleared or replanted since.

Their appearance will come two weeks after they headlined the pyramid stage at this year’s Glastonbury festival, however, it may also be one of the final times the band will perform together as they have revealed that they will be taking a hiatus after their current “50 and Counting” tour.
