A BGB jawan, injured in a clash between law enforcers and activists of Hefazat-e-Islam in Narayanganj on Monday, succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Tuesday morning . M Lablu, 38, died at about 8:30am today while undergoing treatment at the hospital, said the hospital sources, reported UNB. Sources at DMCH said he was admitted to the hospital at 10:30am on Monday in critical condition being injured in the clash at Kanchpur in Narayanganj Sadar upazila. The fierce clash ensued at about 6am, when a joint force drawn from police, Rapid Action Battalion and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) tried to conduct a raid on Madaninagar Madrasah where Hefazat men took shelter. At one stage, the madrasah students urged locals through the mike of mosque to resist the law enforcers. Hundreds of locals with sticks and other locally-made weapons joined them to attack the joint force in response to the call. Later, a series of clashes took place between law enforcers and the Hefaz at activists in Kanchpur and Signboard areas, leaving 17 people, including a BGB jawan, dead and over 200 others, including Lablu, injured, 100 with bullets. The clashes sporadically continued till Monday afternoon.
