DMP imposes ban on holding meeting in JS areas

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) imposed ban on holding any kind of meeting, procession, rally and demonstration and carrying firearms and explosives at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban and its adjacent areas for ensuring smooth functioning of the 17th JS session beginning on Sunday.

According to a DMP release issued Friday, the imposition will come into effect from 12 midnight of Saturday.

DMP Commissioner Benjir Ahmed announced this under section 28 and 29 of the DMP Ordinance (Ordinance-III/76) power vested in him.

The release said the prohibited areas -- Mohakhali crossing of Mymensingh road-Bangla motor crossing, Bangla motor link road (west side)-Sonargaon SAARC foara, Panthapoth (south)-linking point-Farmgate, Mirpur road Shamoli intersection- linking point of Dhanmondi-16 (old-27), Rokeya Sarani-linking road-old division (aircraft) crossing-Parjatan crossing (Bijor sarani), Indira road (east point)-Manik Mia avenue (west side), JS restricted areas and all roads under this areas and lanes, it said.
