The landlords will be responsible for the crimes taking place in their houses if they fail to submit information about their tenants within March 15, DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Miah has said.
The DMP commissioner made the statement while addressing a press conference regarding the tenant database on Monday afternoon.
He said: “If someone does not provide information to DMP on time then they will be responsible if any criminal activity takes place in their house.”

Asaduzzaman Miah said around three to nine units were created in all the police stations depending on the area and density of the places.
He said: “Those who did not get a form will have to contact their respective police stations for it.
“If there is a change in the tenant then the owners will have to inform the matter to the police and also collect a new form for the new tenant.”
The DMP commissioner also said the information will be stored in both soft and hard copies in the database.
He, however, assured that the information provided in the forms will not be disclosed to anyone nor will the information providers be harassed.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police have been visiting houses and handing out tenant information forms to both landlords and their lodgers and would continue to do so until midnight tonight.
The DMP Headquarters took the initiative after members of Counter-terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit raided two houses in Badda and Mohammadpur to recover explosives and arrested Ansarullah Bangla Team members.
Section 42 of the code of criminal procedure states that every citizen must help the police for government or investigation work. Under this section, police can seek information from anyone and citizens must cooperate. If necessary, the police can also take action under this section.
