Janet Jackson confirmed she does not have cancer after she cancelled her world tour, causing a speculation about her health.
On Christmas Eve, the singer announced that she was postponing a few concerts, reportedly due to doctors telling her she required surgery. She was reported to not disclose further details about the matter at the time. However, she has now released a message to clarify that she is indeed not suffering from cancer, but diverted the topic just before stating the problem in particular.
“The rumours are untrue. I do not have cancer,” wrote Jackson. “I’m recovering. My doctors have approved my concerts as scheduled in Europe, and as I promised, the postponed shows will be rescheduled.”
Jackson is ready to continue the European leg of her Unbreakable album’s tour in Birmingham from March 30, but with more than two months worth of concerts scheduled before it around North America.
She began her tour in Vancouver and has already performed extensively across North America from August 2015, along with numerous shows in Japan.
She updated her fans on her well-being through social media as a message on a black screen, in the firm of a two-minute video.
The video progressed with a cut from a track from her latest album The Great Forever, in which she sings: “Not too pleased with what you’re digging. I’m just busy living my life.”
Jackson removed herself from social gatherings after her brother Michael passed away in 2009, but began performing in global tours in 2011.
