Referring to the recent debate over the post-1971 role of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JaSad), Awami League Advisory Council Member Suranjit Sengupta has said there is no benefit in talking about the past of neither the Awami League nor the JaSad.
Addressing a discussion commemorating slain AL leader Ivy Rahman, Suranjit said the politics of the 1980s was now obsolete, adding that the politics of changing the government by force can not gain wind now.
“Our main objective is to fight against militancy and fundamentalism. The 14-party alliance will remain intact. No one will exit from it [the alliance],” the veteran leader told the programme organised Bangabandhu Academy at Kakrail’s Institute of Diploma Engineers yesterday.
Praising the courage of Ivy Rahman, the veteran Mahila Awami League leader who died in the August 21 grenade attack, Suranjit said: “Ivy Rahman would remain a shining star in the politics of Bangladesh. She died a hero,” he said
