Home Affairs MInister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said stern action would be taken against the police members if their negligence in arresting the murderers of Rajon is found.
He said: “None can go unpunished as we are determined to bring those involved in the brutal killing under trial immediately.”
The home boss made the statement while talking to journalists at Sylhet Osmani International Airport on Friday.
He further said: “The probe report has already been submitted. We will go through it and if any police person is found guilty, he will face stern action.”
“If necessary, the Home Ministry will recommend special measure in this regard.”
Earlier, father of Rajon, the teen who was beaten to death in Sylhet, has blamed two officials of Jalalabad police station for taking bribes to help one of the suspects – Kamrul Islam – to flee to Saudi Arabia.
Following the allegation, a three-member probe body was formed on July 14. The probe committee submitted their report on Friday.
However, none of the committee members made any information regarding the report public.
The ill-fated teenager was tortured to death by a group of persons at Kumargaon on the outskirts of Sylhet city around 7:30am on July 8.
The criminals also recorded a video during the torture and posted it on Facebook.
The 28-minute video, recorded on a mobile phone camera, shows the victim tied to a pole in front of a workshop in the still-closed Sultan Ali Market, beside the Dhaka-Sunamganj road.
From the video, it seemed there were five to six men who took part in the barbaric torture.
A murder case was filed in this regard by Jalalabad police, in which Rajan’s father later became a plaintiff.
One Muhit was held while dumping Rajon's body on the day of the murder.
He was listed as the prime accused in the case, while his brother Kamrul Islam, 24, their accomplice Ali Haider, 34, and guard Moyna Miah, 45, were charged with murder as well.
Later, Muhit's cousin Ismail Hossain Abullus and Guard Moyna Mia were held while absconding accused Kamrul Islam was held in Jeddah of Saudi Arabia.
In the latest development, some of the killers have given confessional statements.
On Thursday, the law minister has said the killers would be tried in a special tribunal.
