Gold prices see further fall

Gold prices came down to Tk45,898 per bhori from Tk46,889 a week ago, Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) said in a statement yesterday. The new prices will be effective from today. As per the new rate, gold of 22-carat will be sold at Tk45,898 per bhori or 11.664 gram. While the price of 21-carat gold will be sold at Tk43,857 and 18-carat at Tk37,908. Traditional gold will be sold at Tk25,020 per bhori. However, prices of silver went up and will be effective from today. Per bhori silver will be sold at Tk1,050 per bhori instead of Tk933. BAJUS regularly monitors global gold market prices. Based on the global market prices, the organisation adjusts prices for Bangladesh market. The gold price closed at a five-month low at the end of New York trading last week, dropping to $1,216 an ounce, according to the Wall Street Journal.
