Injured Rajshahi aircraft trainer dies

Aircraft trainer Shahed Kamal, who was injured after his aircraft crashed on the runway and caught fire while making an emergency landing at Shah Makhdum Airport in Rajshahi on April 1, has succumbed to his injuries early on Wednesday at a hospital in Singapore while undergoing treatment.

The crash of the Bangladesh Flying Academy and General Aviation Limited aircraft also left trainee pilot Tamanna Rahman Hridi, 22, dead.

Shahed breathed his last at around 1:40am on Wednesday in Singapore General Hospital, said Rejowan Ahmed, a fellow of the deceased, who is first officer of US-Bangla Airlines.

The body is supposed to be brought back on Wednesday night, Rejawan told the reporters. 

Injured Shahed Kamal was admitted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Rajshahi but then was shifted to CMH in Dhaka.

Later, he was referred to Singapore General Hospital.

Shahed kamal, 50, hailed from Narail. He had been working as a trainer at Bangladesh Flying Academy and General Aviation Limited, a government-run training institution, for a long time.
