Law minister: Quick trial of all sensational murder, rape cases

“The government has decided to hold quick trial of all sensational murder and rape cases to ensure highest punishment for the offenders in shortest time,” he said while talking to reporters after an inauguration programme held at Judicial Administration Training Institute in Dhaka. He said: “The government will instruct the prosecution to place argument before trial courts seeking highest punishment if evidence is found against such offenders.” The law minister also said the papers of the cases will be prepared quickly to ensure fast trial even in in the High Court. Replying to a query, he said the ministry will soon send a reply to the letter sent by the Supreme Court that had asked the government to relocate the International Crimes Tribunal. Regarding Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha's recent remark on setting up tribunals at some district headquarters, he said: “The ministry has not taken any such decision. It might be the chief justice's personal opinion.”
