45km long tailback in Dhaka-Chittagong highway

The traffic congestion from Gauripur in Daudkandi to Kachpur of Narayanganj resulted in immense suffering of the passengers of the vehicles stranded on the highway for hours. Abdul Awoal, officer-in-charge of Daudkandi highway police station, said the tailback occurred as a goods-laden truck from Dhaka made a stoppage at the Meghna bridge of the highway 4 am as it developed a mechanical fault causing the traffic congestion. The defective truck was removed hours later but the gridlock is yet to ease on the highway due to huge pressure of traffic vehicles.
