Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim has said that he will give Titumir College student Siddiqur Rahman a job in his ministry.
The minister made the statement while speaking as the chief guest at a seminar at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on Monday.
"The government will help Siddiqur to get rehabilitated. I will give him a job in my ministry on his return to the country from India whether he gets back his eye sight or not," Nasim was quoted by BSS as saying.
He further said: “We will try our level best so that he [Siddiqur] can get back his eyesight. If doctors suggest, Siddiq's eyes will also be operated.”

Siddiqur was injured on July 20 when he took part in peaceful protests with students of seven government colleges that had recently been affiliated with Dhaka University demanding declaration of the exam schedule.
His eyes were badly damaged when police charged batons and lobbed tear gas at the students at Shahbagh.
He was taken to Chennai’s Sankara Nethralaya Hospital on July 27 to see an eye specialist. But the Chennai doctors did not have any good news. They said Siddiqur had no chance of regaining his eyesight.
The government is bearing the cost of his treatment as per the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
