Update : 10 Sep 2016, 06:40 PM
The MRI and CT scan machines at Dhaka Medical College Hospital were found out of commission on Saturday when they were needed the most to assess the condition of the workers injured in a boiler blast at a factory in Tongi, Gazipur earlier in the day. One of the patients named Jahangir Mirza, who suffered brain haemorrhage in the accident, was transferred to Mitford Medical College Hospital in Dhaka for a scan, sources told the Dhaka Tribune. Asked about the broken-down machines, State Minister of Health and Family Welfare Zahid Malik, who was visiting the patients at the hospital, said: “We have informed Mitford and Kurmitola hospital to be prepared to receive for patients in case of emergency.” DMCH Director Brigadier General Mizanur Rahman said: “We have taken all-out preparation to ensure proper treatment for the patients. Ambulances are on standby, ready for any emergency situation.” It will take two months to replace the machines as official process needs to be followed, he added.
