The Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) has expressed deep concern over its permanent member and DBC News Special Correspondent Rajib Ghosh being taken to the Detective Branch (DB) office.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, DRU President Abu Saleh Akon and General Secretary Mynul Hasan Sohel raised concerns on behalf of the organisation's executive committee.

They said the incident had caused concern among journalists and stressed that any action by law enforcement agencies must follow existing laws and due legal process.

The DRU leaders said any allegations against a journalist should be addressed through established legal procedures. They also stressed the need for transparency and accountability to protect press freedom and journalists' professional rights.

They demanded that Rajib's whereabouts be immediately disclosed to his family and colleagues and that he be released promptly if there is no legal basis for holding him.
