State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir on Saturday called for a stronger, modernised and dynamic OIC to address the challenges facing the entire Muslim Ummah.
He made the call while addressing the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers as the leader of the Bangladesh delegation.
The 52nd session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) is currently being held in Baghdad, Iraq.
This year’s CFM carries particular significance as the ongoing conflict in the Middle East continues to severely undermine global peace and stability and disrupt supply chains.
The state minister particularly urged OIC member states and the wider international community to remain actively engaged and sustain pressure on the Myanmar authorities to ensure the safe, dignified and sustainable return of the Rohingyas to their homeland.
He stressed that the Muslim Ummah must act collectively and proactively to resolve the crisis.
The state minister also underscored the need for continued dialogue to de-escalate conflicts in the Middle East.
He called for an end to Israeli brutalities against the Palestinian people, including women and children, and the creation of a free and sovereign Palestinian state within the 1967 borders.
Expressing concern over the rise of Islamophobia, he called on the Ummah to take a coordinated approach, engaging all stakeholders to address the matter.
