Actress Azmeri Haque Badhon has returned home after being attacked in Italy. State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir visited her residence to inquire about her wellbeing.

Badhon disclosed the matter in a Facebook post on Tuesday evening, saying the state minister visited her home on behalf of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

“Today, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir visited our home on behalf of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to inquire about me and my family. I am deeply honoured and grateful for his sincerity, courtesy and sense of responsibility,” she wrote.

She said the state’s initiative to stand by her family during the difficult time had reassured her personally and strengthened her trust in the state as a citizen.

“Security, dignity and rights of a citizen should never be compromised, regardless of differences in opinion,” she said.

Badhon also expressed gratitude to the Bangladesh government, the prime minister, the Bangladesh Embassy, the Italian government and police, and everyone at home and abroad who checked on her and her family and extended humanitarian assistance and support.

She said the experience had reminded her that “unity, courage and a sense of responsibility towards one another” are the greatest strengths against injustice, fear and division.

“When people unite for justice and truth, their strength to stand against injustice increases manifold,” she said.

Badhon also said building a safe, dignified, democratic and humane Bangladesh is a collective responsibility.
