The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has reduced gold prices for the second consecutive day, lowering the price of 22-carat gold by Tk2,158 per bhori (11.664 grams).
The new price, including VAT, has been set at Tk219,808 per bhori and came into effect at 10am on Tuesday.
In a statement issued on Tuesday morning, Bajus said the latest adjustment was made after the price of pure gold declined in the local market.
Under the revised price list:
- 22-carat gold: Tk219,808 per bhori
- 21-carat gold: Tk209,894 per bhori
- 18-carat gold: Tk180,267 per bhori
- Traditional gold: Tk147,316 per bhori
Bajus said the new rates will remain effective at jewellery shops across the country until further notice. Labour charges for jewellery will be added separately, depending on the design and craftsmanship.
Since VAT is already included in the listed prices, jewellers are not allowed to charge customers any additional VAT. Bajus added that existing policies regarding jewellery exchange and buyback—including deductions for VAT, labour charges and the value of stones—will remain in force.
On Monday, Bajus had reduced the price of 22-carat gold by Tk2,216 per bhori, setting it at Tk221,966. The latest cut marks another price reduction within a day.
