Newly appointed Appellate Division judge Justice Md Habibul Gani will take oath at 9:30am on Sunday, with Chief Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury scheduled to administer the oath.
The Supreme Court’s Public Relations Officer Md Shafiqul Islam said this in a notice issued on Saturday.
President appointed Justice Md Habibul Gani, a judge of the High Court Division, to the Appellate Division on Thursday. A gazette notification was subsequently issued on his appointment.
Justice Habibul Gani has served in the High Court Division since 2011. His orders and judgments in several important cases have included a case concerning the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) election.
With his appointment, the Appellate Division now has five judges, including the chief justice.
