Train services on the Jamalpur-Dhaka route were disrupted on Wednesday after a coach of the intercity Brahmaputra Express derailed in Mymensingh.
The incident occurred at a railway crossing in the College Road area of Mymensingh city around 9:30am.
Confirming the matter, Mymensingh Railway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Akter Hossain said the Brahmaputra Express had departed from Dewanganj in Jamalpur for Dhaka in the morning.
As the train reached the College Road railway crossing, one of its coaches derailed, disrupting train movement on the route, he said.
Upon receiving the information, railway rescue personnel rushed to the scene and began recovery operations.
The derailed coach was later pulled to Mymensingh Railway Station by a rescue train.
Efforts are underway to place the coach back on the tracks and restore normal train services, the OC added.
