The third namaz-e-janaza of content creator and actor Kaarina Kaisar was held at the Central Shaheed Minar. A large crowd of her colleagues, admirers and well-wishers gathered to bid her farewell.
On Sunday at around 10:30pm, National Citizen Party (NCP) convener and opposition chief whip Nahid Islam, Dhaka Metropolitan Jamaat Secretary General Dr Shafiqul Islam Masud, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir, along with leaders and activists from various political parties and organisations, attended the janaza.
At around 10:15pm, her body was brought to the venue in an army ambulance, after which an outpouring of grief was seen among attendees. Supporters chanted, “Kaarina of July, we have not forgotten you.”
Before the janaza, her father Kaisar Hamid and mother Lopa Kaisar sought for prayers for their daughter.
Her first janaza was held after Maghrib prayers at Banani DOHS ground, while the second took place after Isha prayers at Banani Darbar Sharif. Her fourth janaza is scheduled to be held in her ancestral home in Munshiganj on Monday, followed by burial.
Kaarina died on Friday night while undergoing treatment at Christian Medical College (CMC) Hospital in Vellore, Chennai, due to liver-related complications.
She had been on life support in Bangladesh since May 8, after her condition deteriorated. She was later airlifted to Chennai on Monday for advanced treatment.
According to family sources, she initially developed a fever followed by infection. She was later diagnosed with hepatitis A and E, which led to severe liver failure. As her condition worsened, she was moved to the ICU and subsequently placed on life support.
Kaarina rose to fame in a short time through humorous content creation and also worked as an actor.
She was additionally known for her work as a scriptwriter.
