Cultural Affairs Minister said the inauguration date will be fixed by the prime minister, who will formally open the historic museum at a time of her choosing

Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury has said that the “July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum” will be opened for public viewing before August 1.

He made the announcement on Tuesday after visiting the museum site located at Ganabhaban, the former official residence of the prime minister.

The minister said the inauguration date will be fixed by the prime minister, who will formally open the historic museum at a time of her choosing. “We plan to open the museum either at the end of July or by August 1,” he added.

After the political change on August 5, 2024, following a student-led mass movement that ousted then prime minister Sheikh Hasina, the current government decided to convert Ganabhaban into a museum.

During the inspection, Speaker of the National Parliament Hafiz Uddin Ahmad and Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal, along with senior government officials, also visited the site and expressed satisfaction with the progress of the work.
