The ethnic minority communities of the Chittagong Hill Tracts marked their most important social festival — known collectively as "Bijhu-Biju-Bihu-Boisuk-Sangrai-Sangraing-Thangren-Sankran-Changkran-Pata" — at Dhaka University.
A series of events was held at the university's Jagannath Hall on Sunday, including a discussion forum, a vibrant procession, and a traditional flower-floating ceremony on the pond.
The program, organized by the Dhaka University Jum Literature and Cultural Council, was inaugurated by the university's Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Dr Sayema Haque Bidisha. Jagannath Hall's Provost Debashis Pal and leaders of the organizing body were also in attendance.

The organization's Vice-President, Shantimoy Chakma, said the festivities kicked off in the morning with flowers being floated on the pond. The event wrapped up after a discussion session, followed by a communal serving of pajon — a traditional dish of the hill communities of the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
He added that members from various communities, including the Chakma, Marma, Tripura, Bom, Khiang, and Mro, took part in the celebration. The festival brought a joyful and harmonious atmosphere to the university campus.
