The unofficial results of the by-election for the Bogra-6 (Sadar) constituency have been announced following the completion of voting, with BNP-nominated candidate Rezaul Karim Badsha securing a decisive victory.
According to results from all 150 polling centres, received on Thursday night, Badsha won by a margin of 76,311 votes over his closest rival.
As per the results, Badsha, contesting under the ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ symbol of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, secured 133,931 votes. His nearest competitor, Abidur Rahman Sohel, a candidate of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, received 57,159 votes with the 'Scales' symbol.
The results mark a significant victory for the BNP candidate in the constituency.
Fazlul Karim, senior district election officer of Bogra and returning officer for the by-election, stated that voting took place in 150 centers and one postal ballot center, with a voter turnout of 42.49%. Out of 450,309 registered voters, 191,696 cast their ballots.
According to Asia Khatun, additional election officer of Bogra and assistant returning officer for the by-election, the postal ballot counting proceeded smoothly without any untoward incidents.
