A decision has been taken to re-verify the list of genuine freedom fighters and to preserve the accurate history of the Liberation War.
The decision was made at an exchange meeting held on Sunday in the conference room of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs with members of the Jatio Muktijodha Council- Jamuka (National Freedom Fighters Council). The meeting was chaired by Liberation War Affairs Minister Hafizuddin Ahmed.
The information was disclosed in a press release issued by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.
According to the release, several important decisions were adopted at the meeting to ensure proper verification of the list of genuine freedom fighters and the preservation ofHe added that many among the new generation remain unaware of the immense sacrifices and endurance through which the freedom fighters secured Bangladesh’s independence accurate historical records.
Speaking at the meeting, the minister said the great Liberation War is the fundamental basis of the country’s independence and should not be equated with other political movements or struggles.
Expressing concern over the political misuse of the spirit of the Liberation War, he said that over the years, excessive distortion and misuse of its history and ideals have deprived the younger generation of knowing the true history.
He added that many among the new generation remain unaware of the immense sacrifices and endurance through which the freedom fighters secured Bangladesh’s independence. He emphasized that the Liberation War remains the very foundation of the birth of the state.
The meeting was attended by Secretary of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs Ishrat Chowdhury, members of Jamuka, and senior officials of the ministry.
