Shafiqul Alam, press secretary to the chief adviser, has said that the government is working to announce the July Proclamation before August 5. A new committee, headed by Planning Adviser Dr Wahiduddin Mahmud, has been formed to prepare the proclamation.
He shared the information while briefing journalists at the Foreign Service Academy on Thursday.
However, he declined to specify an exact date for the announcement, saying that the media would be informed soon.
“Discussions with political parties on the matter are ongoing,” he added.
Shafiqul Alam also said: “The Advisory Council meeting discussed transforming Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Bangladesh Betar into autonomous institutions. To this end, a committee has been formed with noted researcher CR Abrar appointed as its convener.”
