The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has planned to deploy over 10,000 cleaners and use modern equipment to remove sacrificial animal waste within 12 hours on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha on Saturday.
DSCC Administrator Md Shahjahan Mia announced the comprehensive preparations at a press conference held at the National Eidgah Maidan on Thursday.
A total of 10,267 cleaners have been appointed, along with 207 dump trucks, 200 mini trucks, 44 compactors, 39 container carriers, 16 pay-loaders, 5 tire dozers, 9 water trucks, 2 bulldozers, 4 excavators, 3 vehicle-mounted air compressors, 2 forklifts, 3 skid loaders, and other relevant equipment.
“We are fully prepared to remove approximately 30,000 tons of sacrificial animal waste from all 75 wards between 3pm and 3am on Eid day,” said Shahjahan.
To aid in the effort, DSCC has distributed 140,000 biodegradable bags, 40 tons of bleaching powder, and 222 gallons of Savlon across the wards.
City residents are encouraged to use the designated waste disposal materials and follow guidelines to maintain cleanliness.
